The Marvel Rivals Roster in Season 10

The Numbers, Plainly

Fifty-four heroes. Fourteen Vanguards, twenty-seven Duelists, twelve Strategists, and Deadpool as the one Multi-Role pick. Those four figures are the whole roster, and they have a few consequences worth stating before anything else.

The first is that the Duelist pool is not merely the largest: it is larger than the Vanguard and Strategist pools combined. Fourteen plus twelve is twenty-six, one short of the Duelists' twenty-seven. The wiki's role summary puts it the same way, saying the Duelist role "has the highest number of heroes by far, containing 27 out of the 54 heroes." If you play only Duelists you have half the roster available to you; if you play only Strategists, twelve heroes is your entire world.

The second consequence is arithmetic about how much each new hero changes a role. Every new Duelist is a small addition to a pool of twenty-seven. Every new Vanguard or Strategist is a larger one. When The Hood arrived in Season 9.5, the Vanguard pool went from 13 to 14, an increase of about 8 percent in one update. Gorr took the Duelists from 26 to 27, an increase of under 4 percent.

The third is about random picks. Because half the roster is Duelists, an unfiltered random roll from all 54 heroes lands on a Duelist about half the time, which is why the marvel rivals hero randomizer has role filters.

Vanguards: Fourteen Front Lines

Vanguards are the game's tanks. The wiki describes them as frontline heroes with large health pools, each with at least one way of blocking or mitigating damage, and says Vanguard health pools range from 500 to 850, against 250 to 300 for most Duelists and Strategists.

Added since (6): The Thing (Season 1, February 21, 2025), Emma Frost (Season 2, April 11, 2025), Angela (Season 4, September 12, 2025), Rogue (Season 5.5, December 12, 2025), Devil Dinosaur (Season 8, May 15, 2026) and The Hood (Season 9.5, August 7, 2026).

The pool is less uniform than the role name suggests. The Hood is the clearest example: the wiki calls him a hitscan off-tank whose default weapons, the Accursed Pistols, fire rapid bullets, while his secondary fire, Mantle of Oblivion, puts a sphere around him that blocks incoming attacks. A Vanguard who threatens at range plays very differently from one built to walk into the enemy team, and he is worth trying even if tanking is not your habit.

One roster note that trips people up constantly: Rogue is a Vanguard, not a Duelist. The comic-book instinct says damage dealer; the game files her on the front line. If you build a composition from memory rather than from the hero select screen, that is an easy mistake to make.

Fourteen is also small enough to hold in your head. Before a match you can reason about which of fourteen front lines the enemy might field, which is much harder with twenty-seven Duelists. Duelists: Twenty-Seven Ways to Deal Damage

Twenty-seven Duelists is a lot of heroes to hold in your head. The wiki describes the role as heroes designed to deal high damage and secure takedowns, from long-range attackers to divers who jump into the enemy backline.

At launch (18): Black Panther, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hela, Iron Fist, Iron Man, Magik, Moon Knight, Namor, Psylocke, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Squirrel Girl, Star-Lord, Storm, The Punisher, Winter Soldier, Wolverine.

Added since (9): Mister Fantastic (Season 1, January 10, 2025), Human Torch (Season 1, February 21, 2025), Phoenix (Season 3, July 11, 2025), Blade (Season 3.5, August 8, 2025), Daredevil (Season 4.5, October 10, 2025), Elsa Bloodstone (Season 6.5, February 13, 2026), Black Cat (Season 7.5, April 17, 2026), Cyclops (Season 8.5, June 12, 2026) and Gorr (Season 10, September 11, 2026).

The practical effect of a pool this size is that Duelist is the role where randomising your pick does the most work. With fourteen Vanguards you can reasonably try all of them on purpose. With twenty-seven Duelists, the heroes you have never played tend to stay unplayed unless something pushes you onto them. That is the honest argument for a randomizer: not novelty, but coverage of a pool too large to explore deliberately.

Two Duelists have had their kits rebuilt rather than merely tuned, according to the wiki's season pages: Black Widow received a moveset rework in Season 9 and Scarlet Witch in Season 10. Neither changed the count. The marvel rivals duelist tier list page covers the community's current ordering.

A roster gotcha lives here by omission: Gambit is a Strategist, despite his comic-book reputation as a damage dealer. He is not in this pool at all.

Strategists: Twelve, the Smallest Pool

Twelve Strategists. That is the smallest of the three role pools, and less than half the size of the Duelist pool. The wiki describes Strategists as heroes who mainly heal and support their teammates, often with buffs such as extra damage, bonus health or movement speed, and many with offensive tools of their own.

At launch (7): Adam Warlock, Cloak & Dagger, Jeff the Land Shark, Loki, Luna Snow, Mantis, Rocket Raccoon.

Added since (5): Invisible Woman (Season 1, January 10, 2025), Ultron (Season 2.5, May 30, 2025), Gambit (Season 5, November 14, 2025), White Fox (Season 7, March 20, 2026) and Jubilee (Season 9, July 10, 2026).

Cloak & Dagger are two characters sharing one hero slot, so they count once. Ultron is the only Strategist among the five heroes the wiki lists as able to fly indefinitely; the others are Angela, Human Torch, Iron Man and Storm.

Jubilee, the newest Strategist, is a long-range support whose primary fire, Energy Plasmoids, both heals allies and damages enemies. Her Blooming Balls are spheres that follow the nearest target, and her Dazzling Detonation explodes one of them, putting a Sparkle Mark on anyone caught in the blast; shooting a marked target speeds up her fire rate, per the wiki's description of her kit.

If you have never committed to the role, the small pool is an argument in its favour: twelve heroes is a list you can work through end to end, which is not true of the Duelists. The marvel rivals strategist tier list page covers the current ordering.

Deadpool, and Why He Is Counted Separately

Deadpool is the roster's only Multi-Role hero, which is why the breakdown above reads 14 + 27 + 12 + 1 rather than three numbers adding to 54. The wiki explains the mechanic: Multi-Role heroes have three separate versions, one for each role, with a broadly similar moveset but different abilities, stats and playstyles in each. He arrived in Season 6 on January 16, 2026 as the 46th hero.

This is worth understanding, because it is one of the places hero lists can appear to disagree. A list that filed Deadpool under Duelist would show twenty-eight Duelists; a list of single-role heroes would show fifty-three. The wiki's hero total and role count keep him as one hero in a category of his own.

There is a practical reason to list him separately too. Because he has a version for each role, picking Deadpool does not take a slot from one role's pool the way picking any other hero does. This site's tools reflect that: when you filter the randomizer to a single role, Deadpool is included in every role's pool, since he can fill any of them.

When you see an older hero count that does not match 54, the likeliest reason is simply that it was written in an earlier season. Counts of 51, 52 and 53 were all correct at points during 2026, as the next section shows.

How the Roster Reached 54

Three additions in the summer of 2026 brought the roster to its current shape, one in each role.

Jubilee joined in Season 9 on July 10, 2026, as a Strategist and the 52nd hero, adding to the smallest pool in the game.

The Hood, Parker Robbins, arrived with the Season 9.5 mid-season update on August 7, 2026 as the 53rd hero and a Vanguard, with dual pistols and a spherical shield, the gunner-tank hybrid described above. The wiki lists his base health as 550.

Gorr the God Butcher arrived with Season 10, "Butcher's Blasphemy", on September 11, 2026, as the 54th hero and the 27th Duelist, wielding All-Black the Necrosword. He was revealed in the Season 10 trailer on September 8. The wiki lists his health as 175 plus a 175 Regenerative Shield, and his passive spawns a Black Berserker each time he lands a final blow. Season 10.5, which began on October 9, 2026, did not add a hero.

A note on this site's own history, because a roster page should be honest about its record. This site's roster file is the single source every page and tool reads from, and its commit history shows why that matters: the file was still at 51 heroes (Season 8.5) until August 11, 2026, a month after Jubilee and four days after The Hood went live. It was updated to 53 that day and to 54 on September 11, the day Gorr launched. A twice-daily check against the wiki's roster now flags a new hero or season automatically, and a person confirms it before the file changes.
