Built for solo-queue challenges

The most common reason players reach for a hero randomizer is the "random hero only" challenge — you roll a hero, you play it for the whole match, and you do it again next game. It is a fast track to a wider hero pool, because you are forced to learn picks you would never voluntarily lock in. Over a week of random-only games you will find a sleeper main you never knew you liked.

The ban list is what makes this practical. Solo-queue improvement works best when you still keep some guardrails, so ban the heroes that are genuinely unfun for you and let the randomizer choose from everything else. As you get more comfortable, remove bans and widen the pool until you are truly rolling the entire roster.

Roll by role to fix a weakness

Everyone has a role they avoid. If you never touch Strategist, filter the randomizer down to just Strategists and commit to a few games as whatever it hands you. Because there are only 11 Strategists, you will cycle the whole healer roster quickly and come out a far more flexible teammate — the kind that can fill whatever the team is missing instead of one-tricking into a loss.

Why not just use the in-game random button?

Marvel Rivals has a random option on the select screen, but it gives you zero control: no role filter, no bans, and no memory of what you just played. This tool exists for everyone who wants the fun of randomness without surrendering all structure. Set the pool, roll, and you get chaos on your terms. For a full breakdown, see our guide on how the in-game random option works.

FAQ

How does the Marvel Rivals hero randomizer choose a hero?

It picks uniformly at random from the pool you define — the roles you leave enabled, minus any heroes you ban. Every eligible hero has an equal chance, and the no-repeat option keeps you from drawing the same hero twice in a row.

Can I randomize only one role?

Yes. Turn off the roles you don't want so only Vanguards, only Duelists, or only Strategists remain. It's the fastest way to practise a role you're weak at.

Does it include the newest heroes?

Yes — the pool reflects Season 8.5 with all 51 heroes. We add each new hero on release day so you're never rolling from an outdated list.

Is a hero randomizer allowed in ranked play?

Randomizing your own pick is not against the rules — you're still choosing a real hero. Many players use it for warm-ups and self-imposed challenges. Just be mindful of your team's composition when you roll.
